Vodafone UK roaming charges in 2026: daily cost vs a travel eSIM

Vodafone UK charges about £2 to £2.50 a day to roam in Europe on most plans, and more further away. See what a trip costs and when a travel eSIM is cheaper.

Vodafone UK charges about £2 to £2.50 a day to use your plan in Europe, depending on your plan, on every day you use your phone there. Some plans include Europe roaming. Further away, daily roaming costs several pounds a day. A travel eSIM costs one upfront price for the whole trip, and your Vodafone number keeps working for calls and texts.

How Vodafone roaming works

Europe: a daily charge on most plans, or included on some higher plans.

Europe passes: Vodafone sells passes for 8 or 15 days, which cost less per day than the daily charge.

Fair use: up to 25 GB of data in Europe a month.

Further away: higher daily prices for places like the US, Asia and the Middle East. Check Vodafone's country list.

What a trip costs

One week in Italy: about £14 to £17 on daily charges.

Two weeks outside Europe: often £70 or more on daily charges.

For Europe, compare the daily charge with a Europe eSIM. For trips outside Europe, such as the US or Asia, a travel eSIM is usually much cheaper.

How to switch to a travel eSIM

Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM on our supported devices page.

Buy a plan for your destination and install it at home on Wi-Fi. It takes about two minutes.

When you land, turn on the travel eSIM, choose it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it.

Keep your Vodafone line on for calls and texts, with its data roaming off, so no pass or daily charge starts.

Bottom line

Check whether your Vodafone plan includes Europe. If not, or if you are going further, a travel eSIM usually costs less. Find a plan for your destination.
