Fair Use Policy

How data allowances, daily plans and unlimited plans work on ViraSIM eSIMs, including speeds after the daily allowance and acceptable use.

Effective date: October 2, 2026

1. Why we have this policy

ViraSIM eSIMs run on partner mobile networks around the world that are shared by many people. This policy explains how the data on each plan works, what "unlimited" means, and the kind of use our plans are designed for, so every traveller gets a reliable connection. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions .

2. Plans with a set amount of data

Most plans include a set amount of high-speed data, for example 5 GB, to use within the plan's validity. When the data is used up, the connection stops until you add a top-up or buy a new plan. Data that is not used by the end of the validity period expires.

3. Daily plans

Daily plans give you a data allowance for each day of the plan, for example 1 GB per day. A day starts when the eSIM first connects to a network, and the allowance renews 24 hours later; on some networks it renews at midnight local time instead. Daily data that is not used does not carry over to the next day.

Once the day's allowance is used, depending on the plan, either:

the connection pauses until the allowance renews, or

data continues at a reduced speed until the allowance renews.

The plan details show which applies and, where data continues, the reduced speed. Daily plans are bought for the number of days you choose and cannot be extended with a top-up.

4. Unlimited plans

"Unlimited" means your data will not run out during the plan. It does not mean unlimited high-speed data. Each unlimited plan includes a daily high-speed allowance. After it is used, the speed is reduced for the rest of that day, typically to between 128 kbps and 2 Mbps, and full speed returns when the allowance renews. The plan details show the high-speed allowance and the reduced speed.

At reduced speeds, messaging, email, maps and web browsing work, while video, video calls and large downloads may be slow or may not work.

5. Speeds and coverage

Speeds are provided on a best-effort basis by our partner networks and depend on your location, network congestion, signal strength, your device and its settings. 5G and 4G/LTE are used where the partner network offers them on your plan; otherwise your phone connects to the best network available. Network operators may manage traffic, for example at busy times or by optimising video, to keep the network working for everyone.

6. Personal hotspot

You may share your plan's connection with your own devices using your phone's personal hotspot only where your plan allows it, as shown in the plan details. Data used over a hotspot counts towards your allowance.

7. Acceptable use

Plans are for personal use while travelling, on a phone, tablet or other personal device. The following are not allowed:

Reselling, renting or sharing an eSIM or its data as a commercial service

Using an eSIM in a fixed router, modem, SIM box, gateway or machine-to-machine (IoT) equipment

Running servers, bots or continuous automated traffic, or any other use that puts an unreasonable load on the network

Sending bulk or unsolicited messages, or any illegal activity

Trying to get around speed limits, allowances or network controls

8. If a plan is misused

If a plan is used in a way this policy does not allow, we or our network partners may reduce its speed, suspend it or end it. Where we can, we will contact you first. Plans that are limited or ended because of misuse are not refunded (see our Refund Policy ).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date at the top shows when it last changed. The allowance and speeds shown on a plan when you buy it apply to that plan.
