How can we help?
Answers about travel eSIMs: choosing a plan, installing and activating your eSIM, checking data, top-ups, payments and refunds.
- What is an eSIM?
- An eSIM is a digital SIM that you install on a compatible device. ViraSIM lets you buy a travel data plan without swapping a physical SIM card. Check each plan for its included services and coverage.
- How do I check whether my phone supports eSIM?
- Check your exact device model and regional variant with the manufacturer, and confirm that it is carrier-unlocked. An Add eSIM option in your mobile network settings is a useful first check. Compatibility can differ between versions of the same model.
- How do I choose the right plan?
- Check the destinations covered, data allowance, validity period, activation rules, and supported networks on the plan details before buying. A regional or global plan only works in the destinations listed for that specific plan.
- When should I install and activate my eSIM?
- Install over a reliable Wi-Fi connection and follow the instructions supplied with your order. Some plans start their validity on installation, while others start on the first connection to a supported network. Check your plan before installing early.
- How do I install my eSIM?
- Open your order in ViraSIM and follow its installation instructions. Use the supplied QR code or manual installation details in your phone settings. Keep these details private and do not share the QR code. Do not delete the installed eSIM unless support tells you to.
- How do I connect after arriving?
- Select your ViraSIM eSIM for mobile data, enable that line, and follow the plan instructions for data roaming and APN settings. Disable automatic mobile-data switching to your home SIM if you want to avoid unintended roaming charges. Your home carrier may still charge for calls or texts.
- Does my eSIM include a phone number, calls, or SMS?
- Check the plan details. Many travel eSIMs provide data only. You can use supported internet messaging and calling apps over data, but traditional calls and SMS are included only when the plan explicitly says so.
- How do I check my remaining data and expiry?
- Open your eSIM or order details in ViraSIM to view the latest available usage and expiry information. Usage reporting depends on the network provider and may be delayed. Treat alerts as reminders and check your balance before important travel.
- Can I top up my eSIM?
- Open your eSIM details and check for available top-up plans. Top-up availability, coverage, and activation rules depend on the provider and plan. If no compatible top-up is offered, you may need to purchase and install a new eSIM.
- What should I do if mobile data is not working?
- Confirm you are in a covered destination, the plan is active and has data remaining, and the correct eSIM is selected for mobile data. Follow the supplied roaming and APN instructions, then try airplane mode off and on or restart your phone. Contact support if the issue continues; do not delete the eSIM.
- Where can I find my order and installation details?
- Sign in with the account you used to buy, then open My eSIMs or Orders. Your installation details (QR code, SM-DP+ address and activation code) are also in your order confirmation email. Contact hello@virasim.com if you need help finding a purchase.
- How do I get help with an order?
- Contact hello@virasim.com or use Support in ViraSIM. Include your order reference, device model, destination and a description of the problem. Never send passwords, payment-card details or eSIM QR codes in a public message. You may request a refund within 14 calendar days of purchase if the eSIM is still unactivated and completely unused. For technical faults, contact us promptly so we can troubleshoot and review a replacement or refund. See the Refund Policy for details.
- Which phones support eSIM?
- Most recent iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM, and so do many other Android phones. Support can differ by country and model variant. Check the Supported devices page, and look for an Add eSIM option in your phone settings.
- Does my phone need to be unlocked?
- Yes. A ViraSIM eSIM works only on a phone that is not locked to one carrier. If you got your phone through a carrier contract, ask that carrier to confirm it is unlocked before you buy a plan.
- Can I move my eSIM to another phone?
- Usually not. Most travel eSIMs can be installed only once. Install it on the phone you will travel with, and contact support before you delete it or change phones.
